Take Down, Carol Tate
Flagged as the first book in the Kiwi Falls Series, TAKE DOWN is part crime, part thriller, big part violent erotica that comes with a trigger warning for abuse, torture and sexual assault.
From the blurb:
"Lily Cartwright has been trained to obey and protect her criminal father, but deep insider her anger grows. The chains of duty shatter when she learns of her father's plans to marry her to a sociopathic killer. Now she must decide just how far she's willing to go for freedom and justice."
Alongside Lily's story is that of Jason Jae:
"Jason Jae protects life; he instinctively steps up to save an abused waitress in a high-end night club, unaware her father controls the local crime syndicate and she's in far more danger than meets the eye. In a fleeting moment, they see through the glamour and form a connection they cannot break, unleashing a storm of desires".
That should give you a pretty good idea of the setup of this novel that, to be frank, is extremely violent, extremely detailed in places, and quite a discomforting, disconcerting read. Whether or not the use of the extreme torture, abuse and sexual assault is justified, or particularly useful to the story is very much going to be the individual choice of readers.
Definitely a YMMV experience, and one for which the trigger warnings are very pertinent.
Glitz, Glamour, and Deadly Decisions
Every decision has a consequence. Some can be deadly...
