Born in Berlin, Ezra grew up along the Black Forest, in Switzerland, Australia, the Netherlands and across the South Pacific, and was largely educated in the US. He has lived most of his adult life in Japan and Southeast Asia, with longer working stints as university lecturer, newspaper reporter and photojournalist. Currently he lives in Bangkok.

Kirk Kjeldsen received an MFA from the University of Southern California and is currently an assistant professor in the cinema program at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. He has also taught at Fudan University in Shanghai, the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb), and the Polish National Film School in Łódź. His novel Tomorrow City was named one of the ten best books of 2013 by the New Jersey Star-Ledger; he also wrote and produced the feature film Gavagai. He lives in Germany with his wife and children.

Jürgen Ehlers studied Geography at the University of Hamburg. In 1978 he did his PhD with a study in glacial geomorphology. Since then Ehlers has been working at the Geological Survey of Hamburg, where he was in charge of the geological mapping. He has published numerous scientific articles and several textbooks in English including such titles as ‘The Morphodynamics of the Wadden Sea’ and ‘The Ice Age’.

Friedrich Glauser

Friedrich Glauser (1896 - 1938) was a German-language Swiss writer. He was a morphine and opium addict for most of his life. In his first novel Gourrama, written between 1928 and 1930, he treated his own experiences at the French Foreign Legion. The evening before his wedding day, he suffered a stroke caused by cerebral infarction, and died two days later.
