Frank Arthur
Frank Arthur Erbert (1902-1984) worked as an accountant in the Fiji Islands during the 1930s and used life in the islands as the setting for several of his detective novels.
Inspector Spearpoint knows more about the private lives of the expatriate community of Fiji than anyone else. So when Netta Maul, the local courtesan, is found brutally murdered in Suva Harbour, Spearpoint almost immediately has a short list of suspects. Together with his enthusiastic but naive assistant, Sub-Inspector Sharpe, Spearpoint slowly recreates the last hours of Netta Maul's life and, in so doing, moves towards the discovery of the identity of the murderer. However, the tight-knit expatriate community of Fiji refuses to yield the truth easily since almost everyone has something to hide.
