On 11 February 2020, Jenny Quintana will release her second novel Our Dark Secret; an emotional and gripping tale of two girls, two deaths and two decades of silence.

Following the success of her debut novel, The Missing Girl, the anticipated second novel follows Elizabeth, a teenager in the late 1970s who was clever, overweight and the perfect victim for bullies.

A chance encounter with a mysterious girl in the summer of 1978 solidifies the collision of two fates when Rachel moved to town with her family at the start of the school year.

Naturally, Elizabeth was drawn to the bright and beautiful Rachel, who had her own reasons for wanting Elizabeth as a friend. It was a far from equal friendship, as Elizabeth would do anything for Rachel.

Then the first body was discovered.

Fast forward twenty years and Elizabeth wants nothing more than to keep the secrets of her teenage years where they belong, in the past. But, when another body is found, Elizabeth can no longer run away from what happened.

“Emotional and gripping: Our Dark Secret confirms Jenny Quintana as the mistress of the heart-breaking thriller.”
Erin Kelly, author of He Said/She Said and Stone Mothers

The crazy girls, they called them – or at least, Elizabeth liked to think they did. As a teenager in the late 1970s, she was clever, overweight and a perfect victim for the bullies. Then Rachel and her family arrived in town and, for Elizabeth, it was as if a light had been switched on. She was drawn to the bright and beautiful Rachel like a moth to a flame.

Rachel had her own reasons for wanting Elizabeth as a friend, and although their relationship was far from equal, Elizabeth would do anything for Rachel.

Then the first body was discovered.

Twenty years on, Elizabeth wants nothing more than to keep the secrets of her teenage years where they belong: in the past. But another body has been found, and she can’t keep running from what happened.

Can she?

When Anna Flores' adored older sister goes missing as a teenager, Anna copes by disappearing too, just as soon as she can: running as far away from her family as possible, and eventually building a life for herself abroad.

Thirty years later, the death of her mother finally forces Anna to return home. Tasked with sorting through her mother's possessions, she begins to confront not just her mother's death, but also the huge hole Gabriella's disappearance left in her life - and finds herself asking a question she's not allowed herself to ask for years: what really happened to her sister?
