The AustCrimeFiction Best of 2015

I'm mathematically challenged at the best of times, and never more so than when greeted by the need to come up with a "list" of a certain number. Okay so that's probably less to do with maths and more to do with a pathological hatred of arbitrary rules. So let's just go with this being the best of list of all the books (currently at 147 or so) that I was fortunate (in the main) to have read in 2015.

August on AustCrimeFiction

I know, I've tried to do these monthly summaries before and lost interest but I have a plan. No really. Stop laughing. Right, so August was another interesting month at AustCrimeFiction. Only 14 books from myself this month, with a few reviews from last month, and some added by Robert Goodman as well - so in date within category order:

Read and Reviewed this Month:

Crime Fiction

Kingdom of the Strong, Tony Cavanaugh
My Rating: This is the book that Darian Richards deserved to have written.

Currently Reading - Kingdom of the Strong, Tony Cavanaugh

To be honest I was leery about another Darian Richards book being so completely over the utterly mad serial killer thing. But this is different and I'm finding it very hard to put down.

From the Blurb:

Darian Richards is an ex-cop, a good one. He did whatever it took to solve a crime and stop the bad guy. Whatever it took! But after sixteen years as the head of Victoria's Homicide Squad, he'd had enough of promising victims' families he'd find the answers they needed. He had to walk away to save his sanity.

The third of the Darian Richards books by Tony Cavanaugh is due out later in February.

From the Blurb:

One man pushed Darian Richards to the edge. The man he couldn't catch. The Train Rider.

As Victoria's top homicide investigator, Darian Richards spent years catching killers. The crimes of passion, of anger, of revenge ... they were easy. It was the monsters who were hard.

Someone was taking girls. At first he'd keep them a week then give them back. Darian warned that wouldn’t last. It didn’t. From then on, their bodies were never found. Girls kept disappearing. All they had in common was the fact they’d last been seen on a train.

AustCrime - April Wrap Up

April, apart from finishing off one book, was 100% Australian author month. Half way through the month it dawned on me that in 2006, when I got the first version of this site up and running, it was a bit tricky to fill an entire month's reading with local books - even with a bit of back catalogue re-reading.
