Rebecca James

The AustCrimeFiction Best of 2015

I'm mathematically challenged at the best of times, and never more so than when greeted by the need to come up with a "list" of a certain number. Okay so that's probably less to do with maths and more to do with a pathological hatred of arbitrary rules. So let's just go with this being the best of list of all the books (currently at 147 or so) that I was fortunate (in the main) to have read in 2015.

Keeping up with the 2015 Ned Kelly Submissions - Best Crime

This year I've promised myself a red hot go at reading the entire submissions list for all 3 of the Ned Kelly Categories. Preferably before the 2016 Submissions List is released although there are days when I think I might have bitten off more than I can possibly chew. Still - getting there :)

Next up Best Crime - kept the best to last :)

Author Name:

Started reading this over the weekend. Very engaging young adult novel that tackles an interesting combination of more current day problems for the younger crowd, along with much that has always been the same.

From the Blurb:

Cooper Bartholomew's body is found at the foot of a cliff.

Suicide.

That's the official finding, that's what everyone believes.&nbsp;<br>Cooper's girlfriend, Libby, has her doubts. They'd been happy, in love. Why would he take his own life?

Cooper Bartholomew's body is found at the foot of a cliff.

Suicide.

That's the official finding, that's what everyone believes. Cooper's girlfriend, Libby, has her doubts. They'd been happy, in love. Why would he take his own life?

As Libby searches for answers, and probes more deeply into what really happened the day Cooper died, she and her friends unravel a web of deception and betrayal. Are those friends - and enemies - what they seem? Who is hiding a dangerous secret? And will the truth set them all free?

AustCrime - May / June Wrap Up

Right, so in April I was thinking back to 2006 and the commencement of AustCrime and then May I forgot to do a wrap up completely.

It's been busy in these parts. Unbelievably busy. So May / June together.

May

Every month this year is starting out with a revisit to the Discworld, so The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett it was.

From there, started off in Scandinavia with The Devil's Sanctuary, Marie Hermanson which started off with a bang and fizzled to a bit of a disappointment.

CR - Sweet Damage, Rebecca James

Book Title:
Author Name:

Reading this one for review over at http://newtownreviewofbooks.com/ - it's marketed as YA, but it should work for a wider audience.

From the Blurb:

'I still dream about Anna London's house. In my dreams it's as if the house itself has sinister intentions. But in real life it wasn't the house that was responsible for what happened. It was the people who did the damage ...'
