This little plea found its way into my mailbox in the last few days:

****

In what is clearly a monstrous error by the judges, I have been short-listed for the Melbourne Prize for Literature(link is external)

Naturally, I am somewhat bemused to find myself accused of Literature, particularly in connection with a highly prestigious award with a significant purse. The other shortlist nominees are proper writers so I rate my chances of winning the top spot at approximately zero. But, with your help, I might just pull off the consolation prize - the Civic Choice Award - which is determined by popular vote. A more modest sum of money will be dispensed in this category. Given the high cost of maintaining the guttering at the Brunswick Institute, stain removal, etc, this would be very welcome.

If you would like to vote for me (and I hope you will), you'll find the link at the top right and also here: (belt and braces)

Please feel free to encourage your friends, family, associates, customers, clients, puppets and tribal affiliates to vote for me. It seems to work for Hamid Karzai, John Brumby, etc

The cheque is in the etc, etc

Thanks
