Bossy Boots

Blurb from the book

In Lady Luck, university graduate Phoebe Banks was dumped on the side of the road by her boyfriend and left to fend for herself. She ended up getting into more trouble than a twenty-something with a bad bleach job could hope for, but when her housemate attacked her after killing two men, she saved her own life and that of her friend and police officer, Jackson Sinclair.

In the sequel, Bossy Boots, Phoebe finds herself living in sin but discovers too late that the only sin in Sebastian's house is washing whites in with the coloureds. Sharing the same bathroom with her fantasy date turns out to be slightly less steamy than she'd hoped; there are just some things you want to find out after you've won gold at the sexual Olympics. Phoebe likes him, she thought he liked her, so she's just not quite sure what went wrong when she moved in, although accidentally braining him with the breakfast tray might have had something to do with it.

But it's a crisis averted when Sebastian disappears and the only clues to his whereabouts are a mysterious redhead wearing inappropriate footwear and a cupboard full of porn movies. Paying the rent is suddenly the least of her worries when Phoebe meets Mike 'Minute Man' McNamara and Spunky Greg, two guys who want Sebastian back as much as she does, if only to finish filming Frotting Hill. In an attempt to figure out what happened to Sebastian, Phoebe finds herself embroiled in some really lame script ideas and when she is eventually trapped into saving Sebastian's life, and dignity, she is forced to use all her ingenuity and wit to survive.

Lady Luck

 ISBN 1862545774

Blurb from the book

Freshly dumped, like an old Pepsi can on the side of the road, by a boy with bad hair riding a Ducati. So she isn't exactly jazzed to discover her ex-boyfriend was also a drug-dealer, and she's accidentally ended up with his merchandise.

Phoebe figures she might as well take advantage of her situation, as young people are encouraged to do in the free-market economy, and it's about then that Jackson Sinclair, the impossibly sexy policeman, starts asking some difficult questions and Phoebe has to figure out if she wants him to kiss her or arrest her.

The Ringmaster

After the events described in Vanda Symon's debut crime novel Overkill, our hero Sam is now training to be a detective at Dunedin Central. The novel begins with the brutal murder of a young female student, one of a number of vicious murders in the region. Being on the lowest rung of the ladder, Sam finds herself assigned not to the murder enquiry but to the local visiting circus, which is being harassed by animal rights activists. Meanwhile, a stalker has been trashing her car and is getting nasty...Sam finds herself at the very centre of the murder investigation when she realises that the itinerary of the touring circus matches precisely the locations of the unsolved murders around the country. The murders seem to correspond with the presence of the circus in town. Sam's insight is a break-through, and soon the investigation centres on the circus and its abrasive owner Terry Benjamin. But when another young Dunedin student is murdered, the killer is now revealed to be much closer to home. Who else is on the murderer's list? The killer is now on Sam's tail and she's in great danger.
