Don't panic.

It's not an earthquake

It's just me doing happy dances.

Pulp Fiction Press(link is external) have made the following announcement

"We're delighted to announce that we're publishing a new mystery by Carolyn Morwood called ‘Cyanide and Poppies’. The novel, set during the 1923 police strike in Melbourne, is evocative of the Golden Age of mystery writing, and we’re sure readers will be as enchanted as we are by Carolyn’s haunting characters and sense of history. Tentative date for publication of ‘Cyanide and Poppies’ is Easter 2008."

Very different from Carolyn's earlier books by the sound of it.  Excellent news.

Cyanide and Poppies is the second book in an historical crime series featuring ex-Great War nurse Eleanor Jones.

The novel is set in Melbourne in 1923, at the time of the police strike and the spring racing carnival.

When Eleanor and Nicholas come across a murdered journalist at the offices of the Argus newspaper they find that rather too many people had good reason to want the man dead.  To get to the truth, Eleanor has to search through a complex web of personalities and events which build to a dangerous conclusion at the Melbourne Cup ball.
