Currently Reading - Death in the Truffle Wood, Pierre Magnan
Starting this book for a buddy read on Murder & Mayhem later today. It's blurbed as being witty and melancholy by turns, if the plot of this eccentric tale of greed and witchcraft doesn't have your mouth watering, the loving descriptions of French good will.
Personally I'm fighting off a very strong urge to get a pet Truffle hunting pig just like Roseline.
From the Blurb:
In Banon, a small, peacefull village in upper Provence, the local community's principal source of income is the cultivation of truffles. Outsiders rarely venture to this remote region, but a small group of society's drop-outs have chosen to set up house on the outskirts of the village.
Opening Lines:
'Come on Roseline! Just one more? Dig me up another one!'
Whoops - sorry, so far I've not created an entry for this book in the database. It could be because it's not from Australasia - in which case I may never add extra information (otherwise maintaining this thing will kill me!) If it is a local book - fear not, I'm just behind as usual.
